UAE Ministry of Investment launches a platform for international investors
A new government portal brings together investment opportunities across the UAE's six priority sectors, with profiles of all seven emirates and direct contact with the Ministry's advisers.
This week the UAE Ministry of Investment launched Investment Opportunities, a new online platform for international investors at opportunities.invest.gov.ae. The platform gives investors a single point of access to opportunities across the UAE's six priority sectors and supports the National Investment Strategy 2031.
Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, UAE Minister of Investment, said the government is focused on "channelling global capital into priority sectors that strengthen national capabilities".
The key facts
- Six priority sectors: manufacturing; transport and logistics; healthcare and life sciences; renewable energy; information and communications technology; and financial services.
- Opportunity pipeline: investors can browse a pipeline of opportunities and filter it by sector. Each opportunity has its own profile page.
- All seven emirates: the platform has profile pages for Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain.
- Direct contact: investors can speak with a Ministry adviser or register their interest and request a consultation.
- Examples of opportunities named at launch include a transport and logistics decarbonisation retrofit cluster, bioprocess inputs manufacturing, switchgear manufacturing, government technology platforms and instant payments services.
- National targets: under the National Investment Strategy 2031, the UAE aims for annual foreign direct investment inflows of AED 240 billion and a total foreign direct investment stock of AED 2.2 trillion by 2031.
Why it matters for international clients
For founders and investors from Europe, North America, Australia, Russia and the CIS, the platform offers an official starting point to see where the UAE government is directing investment and which sectors it is prioritising. Profiles of each emirate make it easier to compare locations before deciding where to invest or set up.
Identifying an opportunity is only the first step. The way an investment is held, whether directly, through a UAE company or through a holding structure, affects the corporate tax position, the home-country tax position and the ongoing compliance work.
What to do
- Review the opportunities and emirate profiles on the platform and note the sectors that fit your plans.
- Decide on the right vehicle and location. Our guides on free zone or mainland and setting up a UAE holding company explain the main choices.
