Moving to Dubai from Kazakhstan

Kazakh tax residence, the Kazakhstan-UAE tax treaty and how Kazakh entrepreneurs and investors set up companies and residence in Dubai.

Reviewed October 2026. Rules change, so check with us before acting.

Kazakh entrepreneurs and investors use Dubai as a regional base for trading, investment and family wealth. Kazakhstan has a tax treaty with the UAE, so planning focuses on residence, company ownership and documentation.

At a glance

  • Tax treaty: Kazakhstan and the UAE have a double tax agreement.
  • Residence: Kazakhstan generally treats you as resident if you spend at least 183 days there in a 12-month period, or if the centre of your vital interests is in Kazakhstan.
  • Foreign companies: Kazakh tax residents who own foreign companies, especially in low-tax jurisdictions, have reporting obligations and can be taxed on their profits.
  • Proof of UAE residence: a UAE residence visa and tax residency certificate support treaty claims.

Planning the move

If you will remain Kazakh resident, structure your UAE company knowing that its profits may be reported and taxed in Kazakhstan. If you move fully, cut your ties and keep evidence of life in the UAE. In both cases, the UAE company needs real substance and proper accounts.

Setting up and banking

We set up the right free zone or mainland company, arrange visas, prepare a full KYC and source-of-funds file for the bank, and handle UAE corporate tax registration.
